Training Program for Community Leaders: “Civic Leaders for Change”
🎯 Program Mission
To equip Iraqi-Canadian community leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools to advocate for improved social services in Iraq and support vulnerable populations at home.
🧩 Program Components
| 1. Understanding Social Rights | What are social services? International standards (ICESCR), Iraq’s Constitution | 2 sessions |
| 2. Monitoring & Reporting | How to document abuse, file complaints, use Ushahidi maps | 2 sessions |
| 3. Advocacy Skills | Writing letters, engaging MPs, media outreach | 2 sessions |
| 4. Digital Tools | Using Google Forms, Canva, Zoom for community organizing | 1 session |
| 5. Mental Health & Trauma Support | Basic counseling skills for displaced families | 2 sessions |
| 6. Grant Writing | How to apply for CCBP, ARAP, NED funding | 1 session |
📅 Delivery Format
- Duration: 10 weeks
- Schedule: Every Tuesday, 6:30–8:30 PM (Ottawa time)
- Platform: Hybrid (Zoom + In-person in Ottawa/Toronto/Vancouver)
- Language: Arabic & English (with translation)
